Recorded Live: “Ke Ao Nani” a Mary Kawena Pukui Tribute Concert and Fundraiser
“Ke Ao Nani” a Mary Kawena Pukui Tribute Concert and Fundraiser Dinner with Silent Auction on Sunday March 31, 2019, in the HMA gym. This tribute concert featured the musical talents of Karen Keawehawai`i, Haunani Apoliona, Jerry Santos, and Ku`uipo Kumukahi.
Each year, the PTO does a fundraising dinner to raise money for the school to benefit all students. This year, we decided to have our dinner honor Mary Kawena Pukui, a graduate of Hawaiian Mission Academy, scholar, dancer, composer, educator, author of the Hawaiian Dictionary and numerous other writings and publications, recipient of many awards and recognitions, and who is a woman of great honor and distinction.
The PTO has given scholarships, bought computers and other multimedia equipment, paid for educational tools for teachers, helped pay for SAT and ACT test preparation courses, bought musical instruments, and helped with other school and classroom improvements.
Hawaiian Mission Academy has non-profit status so all donations are tax deductible.
